Hoorenbeek .. some store is really trying hard
They really are trying hard to sell their mesh stuff. I haven’t visited this store myself, but they made a comment as if they read my tumblr page, and maybe some other blogs about people “being scared” of mesh. It’s not that we’re scared though but when you see stores like Jane (just for instance) releasing just a couple sizes, and none fit, and then you go to other places like the ones I listed below, and again more disappointment sets in, because those things don’t fit correctly either, it’s pretty much a lost cause, not a fear issue.
I don’t know if Hoorenbeek puts in more than 3 or 4 sizes but most places don’t. a great number of the skirts I’ve tried make avatars look fat from some angles, if not most, and the old, old SL skirt system is almost a tighter fit in most cases.
It’s too bad some of the places I mentioned before didn’t make more sizes (10 or more), but they are too lazy to do that work, yet they call their “business” in SL “work”. Well guess what that fucking means? Oh but they are their own bosses and too much work is not fun, so we get garbage quite often. Lots of rushed releases with visible seams in textures, or things that don’t fit. Then some of those creators release freebies that look very bad and very different from their typical products. Makes you wonder who’s really creating what? At least it does for me. I’m not generalizing if it sounds like I am. Some places are great, I just haven’t had time to cover those.
Anyway, I just found the comments from Hoorenbeek and also their notecard with comments to be typical of the misinformed SL creator. I’m definitely not saying don’t go check that store out or that anything is bad there. I don’t know. I just bet if I go there, they won’t offer many options for sizes. Maybe 3 or 4 at best. Probably none fit. SMall, medium and large, curvy, normal and fat ass or big breasted avatar made by male size. It’s all the same old same. I have to say a lot of the Japanese creators I’ve found things at, make their mesh creations smaller, nicer sizes, and they look a lot better. Not all, but a good amount do.
All in all for clothes and people who don’t have huge avatars probably made by men, that mesh crap people are rushing out does suck. I could post 100s of more fuck-up stores in here if anyone wants. It’s just exhausting pointing out the sizes and the texture issues. Although I will mention Ducknipple, because it just came to mind. It’s a store I’ve always loved, and they just released some mesh skirts my friend bought. I don’t personally own them but her size is about the same as my avatar, and the smallest skirt still looks too fat on her avatar. The presentation of the product in the store at the time of this writing sucks too. Why? There are no demos or anything, just some rushed out crappy picture on a box. To my friend, who spends 1000s of real dollars a week in SL, it’s no big deal, but most people can’t just buy stuff without demos. You’re going to need wide hips and thick legs and some stomach fat to make those Dicknipple skirts fit though, unless you scale the whole avatar up to some freakish giant. It’s sad cause that store is one of my favorites. I’m not saying they suck, just seemed that mesh skirt was a rush job. Hopefully they improve, add more sizes and put out demos. Still a lot of their other clothing is great. Most of you know probably know this though already.
As for Hoorenbeek, I bet if I discussed this with who ever is in-charge there, they’d just tell me I have to change my shape, which isn’t what I want to hear. That’s fucking bullshit, lazy fucking shit. Our avatars are personal to us, I wouldn’t change my shape for any clothes. You make it work right for us, that’s how it works creators. You could attempt to argue with me all you want too, but I don’t give a fuck and I’m not changing my stance on that.
